Jordon Harrison Griffin

Telecom & Systems Professional

Hey, I'm Jordon. I think in systems — how things connect, how they break, and how they can be built better. I'm drawn to the relationships between Earth and its inhabitants: ecological, digital, social. I hope to be part of both the discovery and adaptation of old and new systems.

I was born into a digital world. I've been deep diving into the internet for most of my life, using apps of all kinds for as long as I can remember. Now, working with the physical infrastructure of our telecom networks, I get to appreciate what we've built while recognizing how we got here. I come from generations mainly out of Mississippi. I was born in Georgia, not too far outside of Atlanta. I am a Black American, and what that means to me is important — long enough to deserve its own piece, which I'll write another day.

I learned to code through setting up Minecraft servers and mods. Not because I was thinking about computer science — I was focused on mini-games and the online communities that came with them. Programming came naturally when I wanted more control over the game. Minecraft, being as open as it was, let me see and edit all the inner workings, changing what I felt would make it more enjoyable for me, and later for others. In that time I learned about data structures, port forwarding, and the value of clean code. What's most important to understand is that I was able to simulate all aspects of life — physical, digital, lawful — virtually, while also learning the hardware that made it possible. Being able to build worlds and actively play in them at the same time is a unique experience. I hope you see how I use that today.

That experience is why I've never stuck to any single language. Programming has always been a means to an end, and I've never minded using whatever produces the best results. That perspective guided my academic journey. I've encountered many challenges and opportunities, and I've come to accept that curiosity is permanent — what I know, what I know I don't, and everything I haven't found yet is always shifting. Right now I'm going deeper into the hardware that keeps the internet running, and it's genuinely fascinating.

This site is a directory for things I believe are important or interesting. I hope my experiences and the tools I share can help guide others to create. I believe in open source and security by design — the full spectrum of developers, from corporate to hobbyist, working together. This is exactly how the internet was built and how it continues to operate. That balance is fragile but worth acknowledging, so neither side ends up footing the bill alone.

In all that I do, I hold three principles close: building with empathy, optimizing for efficiency, and finding joy in the process. My curiosity keeps me pushing. I hope to find others who feel the same.
